Marlon Wayans Shares About Transgender Son

Marlon Wayans shared on a recent episode of The Breakfast Club podcast that he has a transgender son named Kai. “I have a daughter that transitioned into a son,” Wayans said, speaking about his eldest child. The Wayans Bros. actor has two children with his ex, Angelica Zachary. “My daughter Amai is now Kai.”

Wayans explained that he went through his own transformation after his son came out. “My transition as a parent, going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance,” he said, is something he addresses in a forthcoming comedy special, potentially titled Rainbow Child.

The Scary Movie actor added that Kai is “brilliant” and “the most well-read, the smartest Wayans.” And while he isn’t perfect at being a parent, “they know I love them,” he said, and “they see me trying, and I’m happy, but I have to respect their wishes.”
