KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have released more information about a raid on a home in Barnhartvale over the weekend.

Earlier Monday afternoon (Oct. 30), Kamloops RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Crystal Evelyn released a statement describing the operation.

On Friday, officers received a threat report about an individual in possession of weapons. With assistance from the General Investigations Support Team, police acquired a search warrant for a residence.

The next day, RCMP officers alongside the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (SED ERT), raided a home on Todd Road.

“In recognition of the reported presence of weapons inside the residence and the subsequent safety risk presented, the SED ERT was deployed to help gain entry,” said Evelyn. “The suspect was not located inside, but was arrested nearby soon after, without incident.”

A male located with the suspect was also arrested on a warrant.

In collaboration with the Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit, drugs and weapons were found and seized at the residence.

The suspect was subsequently released with conditions and a court date.

Kamloops RCMP encourages anyone with further information to contact the detachment at (250) 828-3000 and reference file 2023-38696.
