KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Innovation Centre (KIC) will have another notable change in August.

In a news release issued Monday (Aug. 14) morning, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) announced the KIC will move to its Kamloops campus. The KIC, a non-profit group that assists businesses, entrepreneurs and organizations in the North Thompson and South Cariboo with innovation and technology support, has been in its North Shore location since 2012.

TRU says a small amount of office space has been secured on the top floor of the Clock Tower and is a close distance to the already existing TRU Generator, an on-campus accelerator jointly operated by TRU and KIC to support students, faculty, staff and alumni with mentorship, workshops and events.

KIC’s move to a new space follows the appointment of Michael Andrews as its new executive director.

“Being centrally located on TRU’s Kamloops campus is a great fit for Kamloops Innovation since over 80 per cent of the people we work with are connected to TRU,” Andrews says. “Our close proximity to the innovative ideas and the faculties that can benefit will increase the opportunities for new partnerships in innovation and entrepreneurship.”

TRU says KIC will move to its campus later this month.
