Kamloops NorthPaws returnees and new players looking to build chemistry as home opener nears

KAMLOOPS — It’s another summer of baseball for the Kamloops NorthPaws. The club played its first series on the road in Victoria this past weekend.

Nolan Austin is one of many returning players for the NorthPaws. With a mix of old and new faces on the roster, the Kamloops native feels it will be a seamless transition for the new players to jump on board with the team.

“We have enough returning guys that have been here and know what this team is about and what we did last year,” Austin told CFJC Today. “The whole ‘getting everyone on the same page and meshing together’ — I don’t see any issues. We had a lot of chemistry right off the hop so it was pretty good.”

Another Kamloops product on the team this year is Austin Coyle, who played for the Kelowna Falcons last season. Representing his hometown is why he chose to return and maybe, just maybe, he likes Kamloops more than Kelowna.

“I grew up here and played all the way until I was 18 through high school here so to play in Kelowna was cool,” said Coyle. “Kelowna’s always been the… We don’t really like Kelowna as much as the hometown guys. We like Kamloops. I’d rather be here to represent my hometown.”

The NorthPaws will play their first home game of the season Tuesday (June 6) at 6:35 p.m at Norbrock Stadium.
