Blazers defeat Kelowna Rockets 5-4 in overtime

In a thrilling game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle, the Kamloops Blazers defeated the Kelowna Rockets by a score of 5-4 on Friday night.

The Blazers got off to a strong start, with Olen Zellweger scoring the game’s first goal just over one minute into the first period. Following it up with a second goal from Connor Levis later in the period. Kelowna quickly answered back with a goal from Carson Golder, ending the period a 2-1.

The second period saw both teams play aggressively, with the Blazers cementing their lead once again thanks to a goal from Connor Levis. However, Kelowna was once again quick to respond with a goal from Andrew Cristall. Ending the period with a Blazers lead of 3-2

In the third period, it was Kelowna who struck first, with Kelowna centre Dylan Wightman scoring a power-play goal to tie the score 3-3. Kelowna emboldened by the tied score pushed itself into the lead with another goal from right-wing Andrew Cristall, for his third point of the evening. The Blazers unwilling to give up then saw Ryan Hofer tie the score at 4-4. Sending the game into overtime.

Not long into the nail-biting overtime. The stalemate was broken by Kamloops star player Logan Stankoven burying the final goal of the game, assisted by Kyle Masters for a 5-4 Blazers victory.

Overall, it was an exciting game for both teams, with Kamloops edging out Kelowna in the end. The Blazers will be looking to carry this momentum forward as they continue their season, while Kelowna will be hoping to bounce back from this loss in their next game.
