KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers are blazing their way up towards first place in the Western Conference after winning their eighth consecutive game against the Victoria Royals 5-2 on Friday (Mar.17).

Just past the three minute mark of the first, Shea Van Olm opens the scoring for the Blazers with his eighth goal of the season to make it 1-0.

The Rockets however would strike back a minute later thanks to Grady Lenton who ties the game at one. The Blazers would then go on a scoring spree in between the first and second with three goals total. One of those was scored by captain Logan Stankoven, who made his return to the lineup and would fire in the game winner.

Goals from both the Rockets’ Dylan Wightman and Blazers’ Connor Levis would be scored in the third period as the winning streak continues on for Kamloops. They remain seven points back of the Seattle Thunderbirds who sit first place in the Western Conference at 105 points.

Next up, the Blazers will travel over to Kelowna to take on the Rockets at Prospera Place on Saturday (Mar.18). Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
