KAMLOOPS — The in-person return of the Campout to End Youth Homelessness raised some much-needed funds.

In a news release, A Way Home Kamloops – the non-profit organization that aims to eliminate youth homelessness in the city by providing them housing and supports – says its sixth annual fundraiser at McDonald Park raised $118,613.

The non-profit had nearly 40 campers in person and another 40 registered to camp online via Zoom.

All proceeds go toward wraparound supports at Katherine’s Place – a 24/7 supportive building with 39 units for youth aged 19-to-26 who are at-risk of or experiencing homelessness. The building is named after Katherine McParland, A Way Kamloops’ late founder.

According to A Way Home Kamloops, the top camper funds raised were:

  1. Tina Lange – $4,825
  2. Tom Rankin – $4,165.85
  3. Aaron Krausert – $2,845
  4. Tom’s Fantabulous Campout Page – $2,275
  5. Cold Campout Can Cashup Compassionate Clause – $2,270

The top team funds raised were:

  1. Kelson Group – $16,915
  2. Team RBC – $14,950
  3. Enbridge – $10,570
  4. Daybreak Rotary Team – $9,750
  5. Urban Systems – $4,000
