Investigation ongoing, more charges possible after North Shore assault and break-in Tuesday
KAMLOOPS — A break-in suspect was taken to hospital and a man was arrested after a reported assault on the North Shore Tuesday (Jan 10) night. In a news release issued Wednesday morning, Kamloops RCMP say they responded to the 600-block of Fortune Drive at around 7:45 p.m. for a break-and-enter report, followed up by an assault.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn states the assault appeared to have started inside a home and worked its way outside. The break-in suspect was sent to hospital via ambulance with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
“Police are investigating. There was one person who did receive significant but believed to be non life-threatening injuries as a result of an assault,” said Evelyn. “That person is also a suspect in the investigation and was taken to hospital. Another person on scene was arrested for assault, taken to cells and then later released with conditions as well as a court date.”
It is not known at this time if the two individuals were known to police prior to the altercation.
