Suspect identified in series of alleged Kamloops fraud cases
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP along with the Tk’emlups Rural RCMP detachment have released a series of images of a suspect in a recent rash of alleged fraud cases.
The scammers contact their victims by phone and pose as either legal counsel or friends of the victim’s family members. They claim they urgently need money to pay for bail or legal fees. In the recent series of cases in Kamloops, the fraudsters send a person out to the victim’s home to pick up the money in person.
RCMP have received about 30 complaints over the last few days. But now a female suspect has been identified on two occasions picking up money from a residence.
The woman is identified as possibly Asian, petite, 5’2”. It is believed she is working with a partner because she has been seen as a passenger in a white SUV or car.
