Kamloops RCMP warning residents of unusual fraud activities in the area
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are warning the public following a series of reports of fraud taking place in the city today (Dec. 28).
Police say scammers are posing as either legal counsel or friends of the victim’s family members. They are claiming they need money to pay for bail or legal fees.
Investigators are particularly concerned because the crimes committed today include the offenders attempting to make arrangements to meet with the victims personally.
Police say the bail process in Canada is different than what is portrayed on television and never involves meeting a stranger in a parking lot or at a restaurant.
