Blazers get back in win column Friday in 5-1 dominant victory

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers came out blazin’ on Friday (October 28) as they defeated the visiting Spokane Chiefs 5-1.

Kamloops lost its previous three games heading into Friday night’s game and took no chances playing around with Spokane.

In a dominant effort, the Blazers outshot the Chiefs 62-23.

Four goals were scored in the first period as Caedan Bankier got the scoring started just 14 seconds into the game.

Logan Stankoven was the man on the attack once again scoring two goals and adding two assists. Stankoven now has 17 points in seven games for the Blazers.

Now in the third period, Jake Gudelj was able to add a goal for the Chiefs to possibly ignite a comeback for the Chiefs but the Blazers had too much firepower as they responded with their fifth goal later in the final period.

The Blazers improve their record to 6-3-1-1 with the win while the Chiefs drop to 3-7-0-0.

Both teams face off in a rematch Saturday (October 29) evening for the second game of their season series in Spokane.
