Broncos playoff hopes end with 41-24 loss to Okanagan
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Broncos’ hopes of getting back to the British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) playoffs came to an end on Sunday (Oct. 2).
The Broncos fell to the Canada’s top ranked junior football team – the now 9-0 Okanagan Sun – 41-24 at Hillside Stadium. Broncos quarterback Reid Vankoughnett completed just under 50 per cent of his passes (18 for 3) and threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns to Colton Meikle and Evan Guizzo.
Kamloops took a 10-0 lead after the first quarter, were hanging on to a 24-21 lead after three, but couldn’t survive a fourth quarter where Okanagan outscored them 20-0.
The loss to Okanagan, coupled with the Langley Rams defeating the Prince George Kodiaks 29-16 on Saturday (Oct 1.), means the Broncos will finish fifth in the 2022 BCFC standings and just out of the four-team playoff picture.
