Several new wildfires sparked in Kamloops Fire Centre

KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildfire Service is responding to several new fire starts in the Kamloops Fire Centre, amid an ongoing heat event accompanied by lightning strikes last evening and early this morning (July 29).
Multiple fires have been sparked near Savona, Ashcroft, north of Princeton, Vernon, and in the Shuswap region. Though as of this morning, none of the new fire starts are estimated to be larger than 12 hectares in size.
The Nohomin Creek wildfire near Lytton remains the only fire of note listed in the Kamloops Fire Centre, and is estimated at more than 2,600 hectares in size as of Friday morning.
