With hotter temperatures in the forecast, Kamloops mayor asks residents to be careful with water consumption
KAMLOOPS — Mayor Ken Christian asked the people of Kamloops to be responsible when it comes to water consumption ahead of highs in the mid-30s at a council meeting Tuesday (July 19).
He said the Kamloops Centre for Water Quality (KCWQ) is capable of 160,000 cubic meters of water a day and that it’s currently operating at half that capacity.
“But as we anticipate next week, as we see temperatures rise, I would urge those people connected to the utility to exercise some prudence in terms of water conservation,” said Christian.
“Let’s be conscious that this is a commodity that we ought to be careful with in terms of our irrigation practices as we go into what will likely be the hottest piece of the summer.”
