Kamloops council axes plans for temporary spray park

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops City Council voted 6-3 to not install a temporary spray park in Riverside Park Tuesday (July 19).
Several councillors expressed their concerns that the spray park wouldn’t be operational by the end of the summer. Parks manager Jeff Putnam said the toys could potentially be here within three weeks — meaning the park would be ready, at earliest, on August 9. That doesn’t account for any potential shipping delays and supply chain issues.
“There goes our summer,” said Cllr. Sinclair as she was expressing her disapproval of the project.
There are currently four water parks open across the city.
