City considers temporary options after new spray park in Riverside Park delayed

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is considering a temporary spray park in Riverside Park following delays to the new park that was meant to be finished for this summer. The spray park is now delayed until 2023.

There are two potential locations for the temporary spray park: one of the practice tennis courts or the grass area adjacent to the playground.

City staff is recommending the tennis courts. Though they acknowledge it limits the use of one of two practice courts and that it isn’t a central location, the grass area beside the playground would only be able to be used two hours per day due to risk of damaging the turf.

The temporary park would cost $40,000. The funding would come from the gaming reserve and be added to the Parks operating budget.
