Two Blazers taken in sixth round of 2022 NHL Draft

KAMLOOPS — The sixth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft was a meaningful one for the Kamloops Blazers.

With the 174th overall pick, the New York Islanders selected 20-year-old forward Daylan Kuefler. Kuefler finished third in Blazers scoring last season, finishing the 2021-22 Western Hockey League (WHL) season with 59 points (38 goals and 21 assists) in 65 games. He elevated his game in the postseason, scoring 10 goals and seven assists in 17 playoff games.

Five picks later at 179, the Dallas Stars drafted 18-year-old forward Matthew Seminoff. Seminoff finished just behind Kuefler in regular season scoring, with 57 points (26 goals and 31 assists) in 64 games. He added six goals and three assists in the 2022 WHL playoffs.

Four Blazers have been selected in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Center Fraser Minten, 18, was taken 38th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round and defenceman Mats Lindgren, 17, was taken 106th overall in the fourth round by the Buffalo Sabres.
