RCMP confirms two people from Blind Bay, man from Sorrento dead in Shuswap highway crash

SORRENTO, B.C. — Chase RCMP have provided details into Tuesday’s (July 5) fatal crash on Highway 1 west of Sorrento.

In a news release, RCMP say a 51-year-old man from Sorrento and a 67-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man from Blind Bay died at the scene.

While the cause of the crash at the 400-block of the Trans Canada Highway remains under investigation, witnesses report to RCMP that a black sedan travelling eastbound had gone into the oncoming lane of a westbound SUV and collided head on.

The crash happened at around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, and the stretch of Highway 1 wasn’t completely open until around 5:00 p.m. that afternoon.
