Three dead after Trans Canada crash in Shuswap

SORRENTO, B.C. — UPDATE (5:15 p.m.): Drive BC says the highway is now clear at this spot.

UPDATE (3:00 p.m.): In an email, B.C. Emergency Health Services says four ground ambulances and a supervisor were sent to the scene, but no one was transported. It is the BCEHS practice to not confirm fatalities at a scene.

Drive BC is reporting a traffic backup at that location, with single-lane, alternating traffic getting through.

EARLIER: A crash along the Trans Canada Highway just west of Sorrento has taken three lives.

The collision took place around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon near Little River Road (July 5).

A witness who stopped to offer assistance contacted CFJC Today, confirming two males and one female were deceased at the scene.

There has yet to be any word from authorities, though Drive BC is reporting a traffic backup at that location.
