Flood watch issued for Illecillewaet River near Revelstoke
REVELSTOKE, B.C. — The Illecillewaet River near Revelstoke was the latest Interior waterway put on flood watch by the B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) Wednesday (June 22) night.
In an update by the BCRFC, the Revelstoke area has seen 20 to 40 millimetres of rain since Wednesday due to a low-pressure system. The BCRFC says the Illecillewaet River at Greely is flowing at a 10-year flow and rising.
The update comes after the BCRFC placed the Blue River and Quesnel River on flood warning Wednesday.
Most of the rivers in the Cariboo and Thompson regions remain on flood watch, including the North and South Thompson, and Shuswap-region tributaries. The Nicola River is at a high streamflow advisory stage.
