Blazers crush Chiefs 9-0 in game one of WHL playoffs

KAMLOOPS — In game one of their playoff series, the Kamloops Blazers dominated the visiting Spokane Chiefs.

At the Sandman Centre, Blazers goalie Dylan Garand secured a shutout winning 9-0.

Logan Stankoven and Luke Toporowski also stood out in the win as Stankoven had a hat-trick and two assists while Toporowski added two goals and two assists. This was Toporowski’s first game since he was injured on March 11.

As this was the first of the Blazers’ three-game homestand, Kamloops won their first playoff game since 2019.

After having an outstanding regular season with 104 points, Stankoven led the way scoring the first goal of the night not even one minute into the game.

He finished with five points on the night in an impressive show for the Blazers.

Game two of the Blazers-Chiefs playoff series goes Saturday (April 23) night at the Sandman Centre, puck drop is at 7 PM.
