KAMLOOPS – Runners at your mark. The anticipation is building for the half-marathon runners and the 5k walkers as the CFJC TV Boogie the Bridge is set to return this Sunday for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today and tomorrow participants head down to the Colombo Lodge to pick up their race packages and t-shirts, while browsing booths from local vendors and event sponsors.

Even before the doors officially open the excitement was sending Jo Berry airborne.

“So excited,” exclaimed Berry. “We’re so trilled to be back and so grateful too. We can’t wait to welcome Kamloops back to Boogie. Be a big Kamloops family out in that field. We are so excited, it’s going to be wonderful.”

The last time runners raced across the bridge was 2019. The past two years have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with organizers putting on virtual events to keep the boogie spirit alive. But for organizers it the community that truly makes Boogie, boogie

“The thing that makes Boogie so special is the people coming together and celebrating the movement. Getting outside, getting rid of those winter blues. Hitting spring running or walking or having a little shake-shake on that boogie route,” added Jenn Ruemper, Boogie President.

Participants can pick up their packages both tonight (Friday) until 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
