City of Kamloops solicits designs for new Chain of Office
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops will get a new mayor later this year — and hopes to get the new mayor some new bling.
The mayor’s Chain of Office was stolen last September when thieves broke into Kamloops City Hall. The piece of regalia is typically worn only during ceremonial events.
Six months later, the City is calling for designs for a new Chain of Office.
“We see the unfortunate theft of the last Chain of Office as an opportunity to involve the community in reimagining the new chain’s imagery and symbolism with fresh perspective,” said City of Kamloops Recreation, Social Development and Culture Manager Barb Berger. “A custom-made Chain of Office is revered as an important piece of public history, and it should reflect the values and priorities of our community.”
