KAMLOOPS — In an exchange of two veteran players, the Blazers have acquired veteran forward Luke Toporowski from Spokane.

Toporowski, who attended Detroit Red Wing’s development camp this fall, had played his entire 223-game career with the Chiefs, scoring 76 goals and adding 89 assists. He has 15 goals and 14 assists in 29 games this season

Kamloops gives up 20-year-old forward Nick McCarry, who had 28 points in 34 games this season. They also hand a 2025 second-round pick to the Chiefs.

It’s the third trade of the day for the Blazers on the WHL’s Trade Deadline Day. Earlier, the team acquired 19-year-old forward Drew Englot from the Regina Pats. Kamloops also traded away veteran forward Josh Pillar to Saskatoon to bring him closer to home.
