Merritt monitoring upcoming atmospheric river, no advisories or warnings in effect
KAMLOOPS — Just under two months after an atmospheric river caused the Coldwater River to flood and the City of Merritt to evacuate, the city says it’s monitoring another event in the forecast for B.C.
As of Monday (Jan. 10), the City states there are no advisories, watches, or warnings in effect. Environment Canada has forecasted a risk of freezing rain for Merritt until Tuesday (Jan. 11) morning.
The city acknowledged that some may feel anxious after the extreme weather in November destroyed more than 300 homes.
“We … recommend staying informed and prepared to counteract anxiety,” the City said in a Twitter thread uploaded Monday morning.
