Up to 20 centimetres of snow expected for South Thompson, Nicola, and Shuswap regions
KAMLOOPS — Drivers in the South Thompson, Nicola, and Shuswap regions are warned that a large amount of snow could affect their Thursday (Jan. 6) morning commute.
Environment Canada issued special weather statements on Tuesday (Jan. 4) saying the regions could see between 10 to 20 centimetres of snow.
Additionally, the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Kamloops, the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna, and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton could see up to 25 centimetres of snow.
Snow is expected to be heavy at times starting Wednesday evening (Jan. 5) and continue into Thursday morning before easing off to flurries in the afternoon. The agency says it’s due to a low-pressure system that’s forecast to move into southwestern B.C. Wednesday evening.
