
Active COVID-19 cases decrease in B.C. and Interior Health; provincial hospitalizations rise
KAMLOOPS — Interior Health is continuing to account for a smaller percentage of B.C.’s new COVID-19 cases.
Between Sept. 17 and 20, the province is reporting 1,692 new cases of COVID-19 — an average of 564 per day — with 371 of them in Interior Health.
Provincially, there are 5,608 active cases of COVID-19 in the province (down by 423 since Sept. 17), with 1,183 of them in Interior Health (down by 316). Of the provincial active cases, 307 individuals are hospitalized (up by nine) with 156 in intensive care (up by 21). The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.
There were 11 new deaths over the three-day stretch, none of them in Interior Health. The provincial death toll is 1,899.
