KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Interior continues to get slammed by wildfires.

31 fires have broken out in the province in the past two days. 107 fires are burning in the Kamloops Fire Centre, 65 in the Cariboo.

New wildfires were spotted just northeast of Kamloops around Harper Mountain – and north of North Barriere Lake yesterday afternoon. The Bear Creek Fire north of North Barriere Lake is reported to be 34 hectares in size this morning.

The Mount Peter Ridgeline Fire was reported to be 2 hectares in size as of Tuesday night.

Overnight, three fires were reported in the Goose Lake- Long Lake area. One was in a hayfield and the family in the nearby home had to be evacuated. These are suspected to be person-caused and broke out around midnight in three separate spots. RCMP are believed to have been called in to have a look. KFR Platoon Captain Wade Lindoff says 5 fire trucks and 14 firefighters from the City responded to the hay field fire.. There was no structural damage, and Lindoff says crews were able to knock the fire down. The fire was reported about 11:30 last night.

The Embleton Mountain fire near Sun Peaks is still listed at 466 hectares, and still out of control. Fire growth was away from the community yesterday. The fire is in steep and difficult terrain. Structure protection personnel are on the scene working with the wildfire crews and heavy equipment.

10 helicopters and air tanker support worked the Sparks Lake fire north of Kamloops Lake. 125 firefighters and 58 pieces of heavy equipment are working the blaze, which is still listed as just over 40,000 hectares. Structure protection equipment is also on the scene.

An evacuation order was issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) Emergency Operations Centre in Kamloops Tuesday (July 13) evening. The order was issued to 17 properties in the Gladwin Mobile Home Park/Jade Springs area in the Blue Sky Country electoral area North of Lytton.

Highway 97 has been closed about 16 kilometers north of 70 Mile House this morning because of a wildfire. Detour by Highway 24 and Highway 5.
And highway 20 has been closed west of Anahim Lake between the Rainbow Range Trailhead and Elsey Road. Drive B.C. said last night there is no estimated time of reopening and there is no detour.
