Another hot week in store for Kamloops – but nothing like the late-June heat dome
KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has put a heat warning in place for Kamloops and the surrounding area for the week ahead.
Forecaster Lisa Erven says temperatures are expected to hit the mid-to-high 30s this week – which is not as hot as the record-setting heat dome of late June – but still of concern.
“It’s a less extreme heat event,” Erven told CFJC Today. “However, heat-related illnesses to go up when we do have these heat warning events on. Even though we aren’t getting temperatures into the 40s, the same safety tips for trying to stay hydrated, seeking out cool places and checking in on others.”
“With this week’s event, we are expecting temperatures in and around 35-to-38 degrees, depending on where you are in the southern Interior, and then those overnight lows remaining quite mild as well, sitting around 18 degrees.”
