KAMLOOPS — A man responsible for a violent liquor store robbery near Thompson Rivers University last year has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

William Bolton pleaded guilty to robbery and aggravated assault in the March 19, 2020 incident at U District Liquor Store on McGill Road.

An employee of the liquor store was seriously injured in the attack when Bolton slashed him with a knife.

At the time, Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay noted the robbery “involved a disturbing level of unprovoked and unnecessary violence. From the moment RCMP were engaged, it was a priority case to resolve.”
