B.C. records 569 new cases of COVID-19, including 26 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — On the one-year anniversary of the World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 global pandemic, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry is reporting another 569 cases of the virus in B.C. Thursday (Mar. 11).

Henry says 26 of those cases were found within Interior Health.

The new COVID-19 cases raise the total of all cases found in B.C. to 86,219, spread out thusly:

  • 20,133 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 140)
  • 50,489 — Fraser Health (up by 301)
  • 2,654 — Island Health (up by 41)
  • 7,738 — Interior Health (up by 26)
  • 5,045 — Northern Health (up by 60)
  • 160 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 1)

There are 4,912 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Thursday, up by 51 from Wednesday. Two-hundred-forty-four of those people are hospitalized, with 68 in intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 368 active cases of the virus, down by nine from Wednesday, including 14 people in hospital and five in critical care.

Three more people have died of the virus, bringing the B.C. death toll to 1,397. The death toll in Interior Health remains at 108.

Henry reported 79,829 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 93 per cent of all recorded cases.
