Crown prosecutor Caputo to seek Conservative nomination in Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo

KAMLOOPS — A third person has thrown a hat in the ring to succeed Cathy McLeod as the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo.

Frank Caputo is a Crown prosecutor and was most recently president of the party’s local constituency association for three years.

“Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo is a beautiful region with hard-working people, but it is facing some challenges,” Caputo said in a news release. “We need safer streets, lower taxes and federal funding for more doctors and healthcare workers.”

After 12 years as MP, McLeod announced last month she would not seek another term in Ottawa. The timing of the next election is unclear, as the ruling Liberals are in a minority government.
