COVID-19 case count grows by 465 in B.C., with 61 new cases in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. is reporting 465 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, including 61 more within Interior Health.

The totals come as part of a prepared news release from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

The new cases bring the total found in B.C. to 61,912 since the pandemic began here, spread out as follows:

  • 14,092 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 83)
  • 38,068 — Fraser Health (up by 262)
  • 1,306 — Island Health (up by 21)
  • 5,374 — Interior Health (up by 61)
  • 2,943 — Northern Health (up by 32)
  • 134 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 6)

There are 4,331 active cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, up by five from Monday. Of the active cases, 329 are in hospital including 70 in critical care.

Twelve more people have died of the virus, raising B.C.’s death toll to 1,090. As reported earlier, one of the deaths recorded today took place at Gemstone Care Centre in Brocklehurst.

The total of those under active public health monitoring due to direct contact with COVID-19-positive people has reached 6,864.

There are now 55,099 people considered fully recovered from the virus, or 89 per cent of all recorded cases.

Meantime, B.C. has now administered 92,369 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
