COVID-19 surge halts junior hockey seasons

KAMLOOPS – The COVID-19 pandemic continues to play havoc with junior hockey leagues that are attempting to play some games.
The KIJHL has paused its season until December 7th. The decision was made Friday night, following the release of new guidelines issued through ViaSport. The Kamloops Storm were scheduled to play in Chase Saturday night before hosting North Okanagan Sunday.
The BC Hockey League has cancelled all of its games planned for the weekend. The Merritt Centennials were scheduled to play host to the Prince George Spruce Kings Saturday night.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry introduced new travel restrictions and mask requirements across the province Thursday, as COVID-19 cases surged over the past weeks.
