CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The Village of Cache Creek has lifted an evacuation order on all but one unit at the Riverside Mobile Home Park.

The park was evacuated Sunday (July 5) due to rising water from the nearby Bonaparte River.

Communications manager Wendy Coomber says the lifting of orders comes on the recommendation of a hydrologist who inspected the river banks.

“We had a hydrologist go in and have a look around at the banks yesterday. Based on the recommendations, we lifted 11 of our 12 orders,” Coomber told CFJC Today. “There was one property that was left on evacuation order and that was the mobile home that was closest to the river.”

The Bonaparte rose to extreme heights after the heavy rainfall received on Canada Day.

Coomber says it’s hoped the last evacuation order can be lifted soon.

“I hope so. I don’t know if I’d use the word ‘decline’ yet, but it’s kind of flattening out. It’s stabilizing,” she said. “We didn’t get the amount of precipitation that they were forecasting earlier this week, so that was good news for us.”
