VICTORIA — Thirty-six more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in B.C. over the past three days.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry offered the new data in an update Monday (June 15), her first since last Friday. There are now a total of 2,745 people who have had COVID-19 since it was introduced in B.C.

  • 934 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 1420 (Fraser Health)
  • 130 (Vancouver Island)
  • 195 (Interior Health)
  • 65 (Northern Health)

The total of 195 cases in Interior Health is a decrease of one from the total reported last Friday.

The 36 new cases are comprised of 14 new cases on Saturday, 16 new cases on Sunday and six new cases Monday.

There are 182 active cases in the province, with 13 people in hospital — including one in Interior Health — and four people in critical care or intensive care.

There have been no new health care or community outbreaks. An outbreak at the South Granville Park Lodge has been declared over, meaning there are only four active healthcare outbreaks in B.C. An outbreak associated with the Kearl Lake oilsands construction project in northern Alberta is also over. Some of those COVID-19 patients associated with that outbreak live in B.C.

Dr. Henry reported no new deaths over the weekend, meaning the provincial death toll from the virus remains at 168.

Of all those who have contracted the virus, 2,395 are considered fully recovered, or 87 per cent of the total.
