KAMLOOPS — For the first time in more than two weeks, a new COVID-19 case has popped up within Interior Health.

According to the latest report from B.C. Public Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, there were 16 new cases recorded today, for a province-wide total of 2,709.

Here is where they have been found:

  • 922 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 1,396 (Fraser Health)
  • 130 (Vancouver Island)
  • 196 (Interior Health)
  • 65 (Northern Health)

The last time Interior Health saw a new COVID-19 case was May 28.

The total for Northern Health has decreased by one due to a data correction.

Henry says there are 187 active cases in B.C., including 12 people who are hospitalized and three in intensive care.

One more person has died of COVID-19, raising the provincial death toll to 168. The victim lived in the Vancouver Coastal region.

Those remaining who have recorded positive cases, numbering 2,354, are all considered fully recovered. They represent 87 per cent of the total.
