VICTORIA — “We are not out of the woods yet.”

Those are the words of B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry Monday (June 1), as she reported a total of 24 new cases of COVID-19 over the past two days.

There were nine new cases reported in the province on Sunday and another 15 new cases Monday, resulting in a total of 2,597 positive tests since the pandemic began.

This is how those cases are spread through B.C.:

  • 904 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 1,307 (Fraser Health)
  • 127 (Vancouver Island)
  • 195 (Interior Health)
  • 64 (Northern Health)

Dr. Henry reported no new outbreaks and one long-term care facility outbreak declared over, meaning there are 13 active healthcare facility outbreaks in B.C.

There are 224 active COVID-19 cases in the province, including 32 people hospitalized, of whom five are in critical or intensive care. Health Minister Adrian Dix noted only one of those hospitalized is in Interior Health.

The proportion of those considered fully recovered is now 2,207, or 85 per cent of all who have tested positive.
