Flooding leads to the activation of the Cariboo Regional District’s Emergency Operations Centre
WILLIAMS LAKE – The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Friday as flooding struck the Wildwood area, just north of Williams Lake.
The Regional District says Minton Lake is experiencing high water levels, leading to unregulated water flows over the lake’s dam spillway.
The CRD says residents need to be aware of unusual water level increases in streams downstream from the dam. In addition, low lying areas may see some flooding.
Sandbags and sand are available at the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Hall. Residents will need to fill and transport the bags themselves. They will be expected to maintain physical distancing protocols while filling the bags.
