From the vault: Barry McPhee wins 1986 B.C. men’s curling championship

KAMLOOPS — From the sports vault, CFJC Today looks back at the 1986 B.C. Men’s Curling Championship. Barry McPhee’s rink from the River City advanced to the final and was trying to earn another berth at the brier. It came down to the last shot.

McPhee’s rink faired extremely well at the 1986 Brier. He sneaked into the page playoff with a 7-4 record in the round robin. McPhee won the tiebreaker over Saskatchewan — setting up a semi-final showdown with Russ Howard from Ontario. He was ahead 5-4 after the ninth end, but ended up losing by a hair – 6-5 in 11 ends.
