Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty was arrested by U.S. Marshals for failing to register as a sex offender. According to TMZ, Petty turned himself in to federal marshals yesterday (March 4th). He appeared in court yesterday afternoon and pled not guilty. Prosecutors wanted Petty placed on house arrest, but his attorney objected and instead Petty is being required to wear an ankle monitor. He will also have a curfew. In addition, Petty will also be under pretrial supervision and has already surrendered his passport. His travel will be restricted to Southern California. He also can’t use drugs.

Petty moved to California back in July 2019 but back in November, he was pulled over during a traffic stop. The Beverly Hills police department determined he was a registered sex offender in New York state but he wasn’t registered in California. He was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender and released him on a $20,000 bond. It appears that he still hasn’t registered and has now been indicted in federal court.

Back in 1995, Petty was convicted in 1995 for first-degree attempted rape. He served almost four years in NY state prison for the crime and was required to register as a sex offender. If convicted on the federal charge for failure to register, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years behind bars.

Petty married Nicki Minaj back in October. Petty’s hearing is scheduled for March 23rd.Nicki
