KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame will grow by five individuals and one team this spring.

The class of 2020 includes hockey’s Terry Bangen, a former coach of the Cariboo College Chiefs and assistant coach on the Blazers three Memorial Cup teams.

Ray Olsen’s name is synonymous with curling — as a player, coach, and administrator.

Michelle Pye in soccer took her career from Kamloops Youth Soccer to the highest level as a FIFA refereee and official.

Kim Scott Kryger was a decorated figure skater in the 1970’s and early 1980’s and later turned to coaching.

The MVP of the Kam High Red Devils 1990 B.C. championship, Yamaoka played seven years in the CFL, before turning his attention to coaching at the local level.

Going into the Sports Hall of Fame in the team category is the Eve Skakun senior women’s curling team.

The Skakun rink won three B.C. senior championships in the 1990’s.

Other members of the team include Liz Karpluk, Una Hazen, Sandy Allen, Janice Latta and Kay Belanger.

Eve Skakun passed away in September 2019 at the age of 90

The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame induction and Sports Council Awards will be held Saturday, May 23 at the Coast Conference Centre.
