Blazers drop the Giants in a playoff atmosphere game

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Vancouver Giants 4-2 in a late-season game that had the atmosphere of a playoff showdown.

Defenseman Max Martin scored the only goal of the first to put the Blazers out front 1-0.

Martin then set up two goals 31 seconds apart early in the second, by Brodi Stuart and Kyrell Sopotyk.

That led a goaltending change by Vancouver with Trent Miner replaced by affiliate player Drew Sim from the Delta Hockey Academy.

The Giants would get to within one with goals less than two minutes apart late in the second by Justin Sourdif and Milos Roman.

POST GAME: Blazers head coach Shaun Clouston

Ryan Hughes would add the insurance goal at 12:22 of the third from Franklin and Zary.

The Blazers outshot the Giants 39-25 in posting a 4-2 win.
