Montreal Alouettes re-sign veteran Canadian long-snapper Martin Bedard

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes re-signed Canadian long-snapper Martin Bedard to a two-year contract Tuesday.

The six-foot-three, 239-pound Bedard, 35, will return to Montreal for a 12th season. Bedard, from Quebec City, earned Grey Cup rings with the Alouettes in 2009-10.

Last season, Bedard received the Jake Gaudaur Veteran’s Trophy, given annually to the CFL player who best demonstrates the attributes of Canada’s veterans.

Eskimos sign running back Williams

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos signed American running back Terry Williams on Tuesday.

Williams became a free agent Feb. 11. He joins the Eskimos after appearing in 34 regular-season games over three years with the Calgary Stampeders.

Williams returned 120 pounts for 1,389 yards and three TDs with Calgary. He also had 83 kickoff returns for 1,815 yards and one touchdown.

He also ran for 704 yards on 120 carries with five TDs while adding 17 receptions for 220 yards.

Williams also had a record 97-yard punt return for a TD that that helped Calgary defeat Ottawa 27-16 in the 2018 Grey Cup.

Lions sign defensive back Ladler

VANCOUVER — The B.C. Lions signed American defensive back Kenny Ladler to a one-year deal Tuesday.

Ladler split the last two seasons with the NFL’s Washington Redskins and New York Giants. He appeared in nine regular-season games, registering 13 combined tackles.

Prior to going to the NFL, Ladler spent two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos (2016-17). He played in 34 regular-season contests, registering 156 tackles, five interceptions, one touchdown and three forced fumbles.
