2019 was best year on record for Kamloops Airport

KAMLOOPS — Despite a decline in the number of passengers coming through Fulton Field in the last six months of 2019, it was a record year for the airport.

In a news release, managing director Ed Ratuski says there were more than 361,000 passengers in Kamloops Airport during 2019 — a 2.75 per cent increase compared to 2018.

Ratuski says the year was record-setting.

“Although passenger numbers declined in the third and fourth quarters as projected, the year ended strong with 34,884 passengers being served in the month of December,” Ratuski says.

Ratuski tells CFJC Today the airport had predicted slower third and fourth quarters due to the lessened service of Air Canada’s Rouge flights.

Still, Ratuski says, all three airlines that use the airport performed well through to the end of 2019.

Swoop will begin flying through Kamloops this spring.
