KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: As of 9:30 a.m this morning, most of the Kamloops customers hit with outages caused by an early morning winter storm have their power restored.

There are still several outages in smaller communities within the Thompson-Shuswap region that have thousands of people without power, but BC Hydro’s latest data shows crews are either enroute, or working on repairing those incidents.

Those outages in the Shuswap include the Anglemont, Magna Bay, and Scotch Creek areas, along with Blind Bay and Eagle Bay. Several other outages are also impacting thousands of customers in Chase, Tappen, Sorrento, and Sicamous.

According to the latest update from BC Hydro, Scotch Creek and Anglemont are expected to have power restored by Monday (Jan. 6), while the rest of the areas are anticipated to have outages fixed by Saturday night.

PREVIOUS: The nearly 700 customers impacted by an outage earlier this morning (Jan. 4) now have their power restored, according to the latest mapping from BC Hydro.

Meanwhile, crews are still working to repair another storm-related outage affecting 2,861 customers on the north shore in the Westsyde area.

An even larger area is without power as well, north of Kimberley Crescent, and down the Westsyde Road strip. 2,861 customers are impacted by this outage, which BC Hydro says is also caused by the winter storm blowing through the Kamloops area.

Crews are enroute to both scenes, and so far no estimated time for when the power will be restored has been listed.
