Kamloops Art Gallery draws winners for 2019 Luxury Vacation Lottery

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Art Gallery has announced the winners for the 2019 Luxury Vacation Lottery.

Ruth Henderson was drawn as the first prize winner, claiming an eight-day Avalon Waterways European River Cruise, and a Kamloops Art Gallery Family Membership. (See the rest of the winners at the bottom of the article)

Fundraising Events Coordinator Judy Basso says the gallery is still calculating the total amount for ticket sales, but early counting indicates the lottery was a success.

“It’s very significant, around $40,000 (raised). So we’re very excited about that because it certainly helps the Kamloops Art Gallery,” she explains. “It’s actually even better than what we were expecting. So all the little details have to come out still, and we have a few more expenditures so we’re not exactly sure of the total amount yet, but it’s around that, maybe a little bit more.”

Proceeds from the lottery ticket sales go towards programs and operations at the Kamloops Art Gallery, and Basso says the support is crucial.

“Every little bit helps because we do some very excellent programming here and we want to make sure that we have the standard and the quality that people are expecting from this gallery. So it all costs money, so the fundraising certainly helps.”

The tickets sold out in an unprecedented amount of time, so Basso says a waiting list has been started for next year.

Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket for next year can call the Art Gallery at (250) 377-2400 to have their name put on the list.
