POWER OUTAGE

Power restored for 1,900 in Sun Peaks area

SUN PEAKS — UPDATE: Updated information from BC Hydro says after an outage caused by a vehicle incident, power was restored last night (Dec. 21) around 9:30 p.m.

PREVIOUS: According to BC Hydro, about 1,901 customers are affected by an widespread outage this morning (Dec. 21) in the Sun Peaks / Whitecroft areas.

Hydro’s website cites a motor vehicle incident on the outage details, and notes that crews are expected to arrive on scene for repairs by 12:30 pm. However, the power is not anticipated to be restored until 3:00 pm today.

BC Hydro also issued a notice, stating that severe snow and winter conditions in the Thompson / Shuswap area will likely be contributing to further outages.

The company goes on to say that current road conditions are making restoration efforts challenging in some areas but have additional crews ready to help out.
