Kamloops’s Operation Red Nose calling for more volunteers after successful first weekend

KAMLOOPS — It was a great start to the 23rd Operation Red Nose campaign in Kamloops.

Coordinator Tara Holmes says so far, $3,500 has been raised for PacificSport after the first two nights of service.

“I think we’re off to a really good start for this 23rd campaign,” Holmes says. “So on Friday night, the first night, which was a little bit slow to get things going, there were 52 rides. Then the next night, Saturday night, there were over 90 rides.”

The designated driving service is designed to get you, and your vehicle, home safely during the busy holiday season.

“This year we are operating every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night this month of December and then the all-important night of New Year’s Eve,” Holmes says. “We really are looking for more volunteers because that way we can get even more rides out there. The more teams that are out there the more efficiently we can get to the people who need our service.”

Right now there are 150 volunteers and the service is hoping for 50 more.

“Just to sign up for one night,” Holmes says. “If we could get a team of three to come out for just one night, that’s what we’re looking for and we’d love for you to contact us.”
