KAMLOOPS — A raid in Kamloops has led to hundreds of thousands of dollars and a substantial amount of drugs being seized.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the detachment’s targeted enforcement unit and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU) executed several search warrants in the city related to drug trafficking.

Three warrants were executed — one at Sunshine Gardens Superstore in the 1700-block of Kelly Douglas Road, one in the 100-block of Knollwood Drive, and one in the 1000-block of Kinross Place.

A 50-year-old man and 24-year-old man were arrested at the time the warrants were executed and have since been released.

The warrants led to the seizure of more than $350,000 in Canadian cash, substantial amounts of drugs including what is believed to be cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and marijuana, a 40-caliber handgun with ammunition, and various items relating to drug trafficking, according to police.

Shelkie says the next stage of the investigation will include reviewing all of the evidence seized and forwarding all information to Crown counsel who will determine if and what charges will be laid.
